About

Haaaay! I’m Lora. I can’t hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

I’m a thirtysomething Pittsburgh native, still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. I live with my fiancé, Luke, and our two cats, Johnny & Kaya. I like Star Trek, big hair, Chipotle, marathon medals, liquid eyeliner, and crisp autumn days.

I’m obsessed with running. It has become absolutely vital to my mental and physical health – it’s helping me grow in ways I never imagined. I’m a multiple-marathoner and an ultramarathoner – in fact, I went from 5k to 50k in less than a year. I certainly don’t break any land-speed records, and I’m not sure that I’m even a middle-of-the-pack runner. I only race against myself.

In February 2011, I committed to a healthy lifestyle after spending the better part of my twenties overweight and/or obese, unhappy, inactive and clinically depressed.  I have finally claimed my life as my own, instead of remaining a slave to a perpetual cycle of gluttony and sloth.

Hey, just wandered in from a hitcounter referral, and I’d like to thank you for giving proper credit on that “sound of how awesome” line. Not everyone does!

(Btw, you have a stray “I” in the fifth bullet point.)

I’m trying not to fangirl too much because I’ve been a fan of Five Minute Trek for years, but honestly I still use lines from the different recaps on a weekly basis. My favorites, other than “awesome,” are “I would question what just happened, but I fear the explosive decompression of my brain,” and “Maybe it’s just you that sucks; ever think of that?” As much as I’d like to pretend I’m clever, I try to give credit where credit is due.

Thanks for stopping by. And thanks for the heads-up on my typo!
